Presenter
Instructions
Presentations are
25 minutes including
Q&A.
Equipment
Each
session room will be equipped with a lectern, data projector
(for use with a laptop computer eg PowerPoint or PDF presentation)
and an IBM compatible laptop. We will supply the computer
pre-loaded with MS Office and Acrobat. Please
advise the Conference Secretariat before Monday 3 November
2008 if you require any additional audiovisual aides and
equipment eg MAC, video, DVD (the provision of additional
equipment is at the discretion of the Organising Committee).
Room Set up
Each
session room will be set up theatre style with a head table
where appropriate.
Bringing Your Presentation To The Venue
When
you arrive at Adelaide Convention Centre, check in at the
Registration Desk. Staff will direct you to the Speakers
Support Centre.
If
you are using PowerPoint, laptops will be provided by the
organisers in each session room. There will be no provision
for presenters to connect their own laptop. This will ensure
the optimum presentation environment.
Your
presentation must be given to the Speakers Support Centre
Technician on a CD or USB storage device. Alternatively, you
can bring your own laptop from which your presentation can be
extracted and directly transferred to the network
server. Supported file format is Microsoft PowerPoint
2007 or below, for IBM/PC compatible machines. Special
arrangements need to be made for Apple Mac or other specialist
software support. You will be asked to verify your
presentation on a local computer. The presentation will be
then transferred. The transfer might take a little while -
please allow this time, plus a few more minutes to verify your
presentation.
Also,
when saving your presentation ready for this conference,
please save any non true-type fonts into the presentation. For
all true-type fonts, this process is not required. Note
PowerPoint will not support all types of true type fonts. If
you are using an uncommon font type it is recommended you save
the font style separately with the presentation and bring it
to the Speakers Support Centre.
How do we get the presentation on-screen with you in
control?
The
computer in the room in which you are presenting will access
the presentation. In the larger session rooms, this computer
will be under the control of a Technical Operator who will
assist you. The lectern will be equipped with a simple remote
with forward and reverse buttons, which will have the same
effect as the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard.
In smaller rooms where no operator will be present, the laptop
will be located next to the lectern for presenters to operate
themselves. The presentation will be located on the desktop.
Please DO NOT take your presentation disk directly to the
venue room as this can severely disrupt the running of the
conference.
